Safe Urban Driving

Transport for London (TfL) has developed an accredited Driver CPC course that is designed to promote the safety and sharing of roads with vulnerable road users in London with a particular focus on cyclists. This workshop is aimed at all drivers of Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) who operate in, or pass through, the Boroughs and the City of London.

The Course is based on the following four subject areas:

The changing streetscape
Vulnerable road users
Sharing the road safely
Defensive driving techniques and collision avoidance

The specific objectives of the Safe Urban Driving course are:

To increase driver understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable road users
To improve driver attitudes to vulnerable road users
To change driver behaviour and to give more consideration to the issues faced by vulnerable road users
To ultimately reduce the number of collisions and incidents between Large Goods Vehicles and cyclists

Please note drivers will be taken out on bicycles as part of this course. Please make sure drivers are aware of this before booking them on to the session.

Cycle Confident will supply Bicycles, Helmets and High Viz jackets for this training.

The course must have 15 drivers in order to go ahead. If this number is not met Cycle Confident will have to cancel the course and move bookings to future events.
