For over 15 years Cycle Confident has been at the forefront of cycling development across the UK. Our innovation has led to an unparalleled level of experience and knowledge.
How it all started
In 2007, founder David Showell, decided that the best thing about his job in the city was the cycle commute to and from work.
Cycle Confident grew out of a single vision of giving people the skills and confidence to cycle as part of living healthy, active lives. This vision holds true today after 15 years of Cycle Confident.
During this time our services developed, we started with Bikeability and adult cycle skills training, subsequently adding bicycle maintenance courses, Dr Bike and Safe Urban Driving to our portfolio.
Growing and learning
In our first five years we learned a lot! In the next five we leaned how to build on this knowledge.
We began working with more and more local authorities, building an understanding of the cycle training industry and of how our services could positively impact the areas where we work. Soon we took our skills in to different regions.
In 2018 we joined forces with Bike Right. Together we now train 100,000 people a year across multiple cycling disciplines in the South East, North West and Midlands as the Be Confident Group.

Every two minutes our cycling solutions change someone’s life for the better. Not just for a special event, a latest fitness craze or a ‘new-year-new-you’.
We don’t sit still. Neither should you. Cycling is our everyday. We want it to be everyone’s day to day. Getting from A to B and then, hey, even C, D and E.
We know our stuff. We know what people are capable of. We believe in them. We help them to believe in themselves - to be proud, to be happy, to be confident. Get outside, open doors and unlock opportunities.
