Advanced Bicycle Maintenance Classes 16 yrs +


This Advanced course is for previous participants of our Basic Bike Maintenance course.

The course is mainly directed to bikes with rim brakes and dérailleur gears, but let us know if you have disc brakes in advance.

Full day 10.00 to 16.30

  • Safety Check: Assessing the overall condition of the bike
  • Wheels: Truing slightly buckled wheels. Including how to fit a new spoke
  • Brakes: Cable removal and refitting. Fine-tuning.

Lunch 45min (12.45 - 13.30)

  • Gears: Gear system inspection & wear identification, demonstration of cassette and freewheel removal and replacement.
  • Discussion on chain replacement and chain wear, including fitting the new chain to the correct length.
  • Gears: Cable Removal and refitting for rear mechanisms.
  • Demonstrate bottom bracket removal and replacement of Hollowtech and square taper

NB. This is a hands on course so please bring your own bike to work on and wear suitable clothing. Expect to get your hands dirty!

Minimum age 16+ (16 & 17 year olds must be accompanied by an adult)
